The conflict of Biblical dimensions
By Prof. Dr. Feelgood
Two tribes from one creator, two brothers like Cane and Able in endless battle, endless strife, bloodshed and hate. Carried on from generation to generation, century to century and probably until the end of our eternity, as one will not defeat the other, only score points on a score board which was first recorded in the Old Testament by competitions, mutual aggression and rivalry. The positions in the battle have continually shifted during the historical record, where one has been on top until it is toppled by the other and visa versa. The one has always wished and wanted to wipe the other off the face of the earth, but that has not succeeded as their genes are very strong and keep reproducing, even in the most adverse conditions of draught, famine and endless wars.
The Bible was long on coming in comparison to today’s modern world of instant media, where these conflicts are reported minuet by minute, coloured by who is behind the editor’s desk, not like the time when theocratic news was hand written by scribes in Greek and Latin and later printed by Guttenberg and his press. The places are the same on the maps and the intrigues as well as the mutual repression of the other; the only difference is the types of weapons, the type of repression and the propaganda.
The Israelites and the Philistines have been going at it and at each others thoughts since the battle of the Valley of E-------, the next was Goliath who got whacked in the head with a polished stone by a little fellow called David with his sling shot. Many engagements have taken place since, just to name a few may I cite.
Today we are bombarded, not like them with polished stone and arrows, but with media propaganda, trying in every way from either side to create public opinion for their position successfully bringing it all down to cheap emotions, by only revealing pictures and descriptions of dead babies on either side, which are only the collateral damages of a wider and unspoken reason for their endless warfare. We cannot, at the same time call it a religious war, as before there was Abraham, to which both sides claimed heritage, they were followers of Ball and Golden Calves, even before Moses this running animosity has raged. One battle has been won by the good and righteous side and the other has been won by the just as good and righteous opposite side. Keeping a score card over the millenniums the status quo has mainly prevailed. Israelites one, Philistines zero, Philistines one Israelites zero. Oh! How with the grace of God we wish to wipe the ground with the opposition pray they both. The only way this conflict will finish is through total mutual annihilation, which as the scenario seems to be heading that may be the outcome, unfortunately as the world has been brought into this conflict and has been forced to take sides through the mouth pieces of the misleading propagandists. It will also spread its misfortunes on to the rest of the globe and the world is in constant peril because of this inhumanity which is wroth by the central protagonists’ wrath and gall over for each other.
The sides have, for new, been drawn up forcing the hand of people who would rather do what they do and leave this conflict to those who are the provocateurs and antagonists, as one has refined military weapons replacing polished stones, the other has primitive home made rockets delivering old shoes and suicide bombers which can appear at any moment, anywhere in the world, to make a political point.
When I was young, getting on an aeroplane was not much different then getting on a bus, one showed up at the gate about twenty minuets before the planes departure, sat down in your seat, strapped in and took off. Now because of the widening of this ongoing and ever continual divergence, it takes hours and metal controls and suspicions just to get into the transit lounge, every one is suspect and if your name sounds anything like Mohammad you will probably not even get the permission to get a ticket. Every one is a suspect; anyone could be a potential “terrorist” against the establishment which backs one side or the other. This has had the effect of spreading its deadly tentacles out into other regional conflicts throughout the world which range from one side of the globe to the other. If one analysis the planets precarious contemporary situation one will find that it is pretty much a disturbance on the quiet lake of humanity where the polished stone had been thrown into the waters and the ripple effect is disturbing everything and everyone.
In the Books, the Old Testament and the Koran there is stated: when God is tired of the annoying misguided toying of nature and their fellow beings by man, he will destroy them and replace them with another race. May I be the first to wish you all bon voyage.
There could be a distant hope though: Some years ago an astronomer named Paul Sagen started a research unit called SETI, or the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence, they have radio telescopes searching the universe for signs of intelligent life somewhere out in the Cosmos, they are desperately doing this because they had come to the realization that there is bloody well little to find here on Earth.
